New Niche Stock Image Website, PhotoAbility, Offers Unique Photos of Models With Disabilities

No Comments 29 January 2014

Fort Lauderdal, Florida (PRWEB) January 28, 2014

Deborah Davis, co-owner of a new stock photography website with images of people of disabilities, became part of the disabled community when a car accident left her paralyzed from the chest down at 18 years old. The 49 year-old mother of two is announcing the launch of her new niche company, PhotoAbility, whose goal is to change how the public views, accepts and welcomes people with disabilities in mainstream society around the world.

PhotoAbility features a wide selection of stock images of authentic models with disabilities focused in lifestyle, leisure and travel settings. Images available include diverse stock photos of people in wheelchairs, amputees, the hearing and visually impaired and more. These photos capture the models enjoying playgrounds, going to prom, playing sports, shopping, working, relaxing at the beach, dating and getting married, traveling and much more.

Companies from all industries in need of original images that express a message of inclusion and diversity will find an array of high quality, rights managed and royalty free stock photos from which to choose for marketing and advertising campaigns.

PhotoAbility represents the one billion people with disabilities across the globe, and is one more fighting voice for the entire disabled community. This unique market, together with their family and friends, spends billions of dollars all over the world in travel and lifestyle sectors every year. However, this powerful and growing segment of society is rarely seen or acknowledged in advertising or editorial images. PhotoAbility has resolved to bring the disabled community back into mainstream media.

Increasing the positive imagery of persons with disabilities, and those who use mobility devices such as wheelchairs, canes, walkers, guide dogs, etc., will not only encourage further inclusion and accommodation, but will help to eliminate the fear and negative stereotyping that so often permeates all levels of society.

Industry leaders, graphic design and advertising professionals and publication editors can use PhotoAbility’s offering of high quality stock photos to incorporate a renewed message of inclusion into their advertisements and publications, extending a welcoming message to this significant market of people with disabilities, their friends and families.

“Stock image buyers can now find an exclusive source for creative, positive and refreshing imagery depicting individuals, from youths to seniors, who happen to have disabilities,” said Deborah Davis, co-founder of PhotoAbility.net. “These images can depict an inclusive message to customers and show how companies value the economic impact of customers with varying physical abilities.”

At PhotoAbility.net, visitors can browse the photo gallery, purchase images or contact the company to inquire about creating custom photos shoots representing specific interests and properties. PhotoAbility can provide anything from a general photo concept to a full marketing analysis, as well as models and advice on how to authentically and realistically portray people with disabilities in a natural setting.

Photographers are invited to submit their photos for inclusion and portfolio hosting in the PhotoAbility library, as well. All photos selected can earn up to 45 percent commission on each sale.

Not sure where to start? Browse the PhotoAbility gallery or visit the site’s “Editor’s Choice” page to review a selection of photographs that reflect the beauty and uniqueness of their stock photos. Photos can be viewed individually or as part of a convenient slide show.

Increasing the positive imagery of persons with disabilities and who use mobility devices such as wheelchairs, canes, walkers, guide dogs etc., will not only encourage further inclusion by increasing awareness that we want to participate and should be equally accommodated, but will help to eliminate the fear and negative stereotyping that so often permeates all levels of society.

We, through our image gallery, hope that by increasing awareness of the value in maintaining and making structural and attitudinal changes, it will encourage and sustain the participation of those with differing abilities around the world.

We encourage you, as industry leaders, and professionals who make editorial and creative decisions to take a good look at how you can incorporate inclusion images and a welcoming message to this significant market.

PhotoAbility was established in March 2012 by Bill Forrester and Deborah Davis with the goal of providing high quality, unique, non-medically oriented imagery of persons with disabilities for purchase by the advertising, marketing and media sectors. The Commercial Stock Image Library specializes in positive and “Inclusive images of people with a disability in leisure, lifestyle and travel settings.

The 2000+ inclusive images depicted in the PhotoAbility gallery are designed to impact attitudinal bias, change perception and provide motivation to eliminate and reduce social, structural and professional barriers. A wave of change reflected in popular media and advertising can make an impact on laws and attitudes around the globe, and on how many with differing abilities view themselves.

How long should the meteor shower be going on?

No Comments 29 January 2014

Question by Jordyn: How long should the meteor shower be going on?
Don’t shoot this down as a stupid question. Yes, I know they are out mid august every year, but last year they continued after the main one for a while.
My main question is, will there still be some meteors next weekend? I have an event to be at where it would be nice to go see them with my group.

Best answer:

Answer by campbelp2002
The Perseid meteor shower peaks on the new-Moon night of Sunday–Monday, August 12–13.

The Perseids have a broad peak. So don’t despair if clouds are forecast for Sunday night — or if work obligations prevent you from staying up until dawn on Monday.

The meteor rate increases to roughly 30 per hour in the predawn hours on Saturday, 45 per hour on Sunday morning, and 80 per hour before the sky starts to get light on Monday morning. That’s for a single observer at a dark-sky site in the north temperate latitudes.

On any given night, activity starts slowly in the evening but picks up by 11 p.m., when the radiant gets reasonably high in the sky. The meteor rate increases steadily through the night as the radiant rises higher, peaking just before the sky starts to get light, roughly 1½ to 2 hours before sunrise.

For the most pleasant viewing experience, find a spot far from any city lights. Perseids tend to be relatively bright as meteors go, but you’ll still see more the darker your skies are. Bring a reclining chair so that you can view high in the sky in comfort; there’s no point in filling half your field of view with trees. Don’t forget warm, mosquito-proof clothes or, better, a sleeping bag. No matter how hot the days are, it can get surprisingly chilly under a clear sky late at night, especially whan you’re inactive. And for many people, the most important accessory is bug spray for the parts of you that remain exposed!

It doesn’t really matter where in the sky you watch; meteors can appear anywhere. Just watch where it’s darkest, usually straight up. It’s probably best not to stare directly at the radiant, because meteors there leave short trails.

How can a wheelchair-bound college student travel Asia with her American friend? Ideas?

1 Comment 29 January 2014

Question by yilingonly: How can a wheelchair-bound college student travel Asia with her American friend? Ideas?
Hi! I am a 20-year-old from Asia who has not known the limitlessness of life until I met Tif, an outdoor American girl who brought me on bike rides and donkey rides. I have never travelled without my parents but would like to do so within the next year. Any suggestions?

Several issues include: wheelchair accessibility, accessible bathroom, backpacking tools, light-weight mobility equipments, options for transportation, cost? We have considered Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and the Philippines… but we don’t know if it is too difficult for us.

Also, what can we do to get sponsors and people to help? We’re thinking of putting together an inspirational program and both of us can speak to inspire the local people. Please suggest!!!

I am an American male in good health and I find getting around in most Asian cities a real challenge, Not only do they not have handicapped accessible public bath rooms. they do not even have bath rooms.
There are very few places that you will find a sidewalk in the sense that we think of a sidewalk. If it is a sidewalk, there are vendors set up on it and people driving trucks on it.
The major cities of China do not fit this pattern. You can get around Beijing, Shenyang, Shenzhen very well. But public transport is not accessible. Forget about trying Bangkok or Manila.
But if you have enough grit , you can do anything. It really depends on your mind set.
Try it and love the adventure !

Coach and Minibus Conversion Specialists, PH Conversions, Launch New Website and Offer New Services

No Comments 29 January 2014

Manchester, Lancashire (PRWEB) January 28, 2014

The coach conversions firm was founded in February 2013 by Managing Director, Paul Hegedus.

The minibus conversion specialists are based at a well-equipped garage in Newton Heath, Manchester.

The PH Conversions team is made up of six skilled and experienced staff who have soon helped make the ambulance conversion business a success.

PH specialise in commercial vehicle conversions.

Services include: Taxi conversions, wheelchair accessible vehicle conversions and luxury minibus conversions.

In addition, the Newton Heath business also converts coaches and now provides an ambulance conversion service.

We provide a wide and varied range of services. We aim to please and always have the customers best interests at heart, said Paul.

We take enormous pride in all of our conversions and everything we do is aimed to accommodate the customers needs. Once we receive a new enquiry (or before starting a new project), we like to meet face-to-face (if possible) and discuss different designs and layouts for the vehicles interior and exterior, he added.

When Paul was asked what separates PH Conversions from the competition?

He answered, We are one of the most versatile commercial vehicle conversion companies in the UK. We provide almost all the services required. Our work is of the highest quality and we dont skimp on any materials used. The industry is very competitive but we refuse to be drawn in to using sub-standard materials to allow us to be more competitive.

PH Conversions trade nationally and locally.

Wherever possible we collect a customers vehicle and return it after the conversion, said Mr. Hegedus.

The Company has recently been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate of Registration and the COP Compliance certificate.

The new website has been designed and built by local web design company, Vizcom Design.

The platform used is the industry standard for CMS (Content Management System) websites, WordPress.

This type of website allows the user to create new pages, alter text and add images.

We have enjoyed working on this one as Paul was open to our ideas and already had an understanding of why a website appears in the search engine rankings, said Dan Robinson, founder of Vizcom Design.

Before we even begin to design a site, we recommend conducting keyword research. This information tells us what people are looking for in relation to the customers business. We then recommend choosing a suitable domain name which will help the site appear in the Google search results. We decided upon coachandminibusconversions.co.uk, added Dan.

The site is branded using PHs logo and features a rotating banner which advertises PHs services and unique selling points. A call back form has been added (top right) to make it easier for customers to contact PH Conversions out of working hours, explained Mr. Robinson.

Vizcom were recommended to us by the person who built our database. I also looked at who they had worked for before and decided to call them. After the first conversation, I decided to use them and employ their search engine services too, said Paul.

.

We hope to generate enquiries and customers from the new site and the feedback received has already been positive, added Paul.

A new ambulance conversion section has been added and this has been created to promote our new service and hopefully generate more leads. It is early days but we have had a few enquiries already. The site is fifth for minibus conversions and I hope Dan and his team can make sure we are top three for the phrase ambulance conversions, explained Paul.

.

We convert most types of ambulances including: Patient transport vehicles, emergency vehicles and mobile intensive care units. We build to BSEN 1789:2007+A1:2012 (CEN) standard, ended Paul.
